Guide: PhD Program Pre-Acceptance Phone Interview

Preparing for an interview could be stressful, especially if you do not know what to expect. Well, below are some tips from my personal experience.

Be prepared to answer the following questions:
1. Why did you chose our school?

2. Where do you see yourself in three years?
3. What have you been doing since graduation?
4. Do you like teaching?
5. Do you have any research experience?
6. What are you research interests?
7. Which professor do you want to work with and why?
They also asked if I am familiar with the weather of state where the university is located?
They may ask other questions.

Additional Tips:
Prepare your own questions for them, but never ask about stuff that is on their website already.
-You can ask about graduate assistantships they offer.
-What are you going to be doing during your first year and subsequent years?
-Will you have to teach?
-How long on average does it take to graduate?
The above are just samples.

Speak slowly and clearly, and also smile.

Have a cup of water around, just in case.

Make sure to keep it down,it's a phone interview after all.

Make yourself as comfortable as possible, they will not see you.

Good luck.
