It all started four days after Barack Obama was elected to the office of president when Samir Nasri of Arsenal FC scored against Manchester United and it lasted until one month and one day after Barack Obama’s Inauguration. Incredible. This is the period when Mighty Manchester United did not allow a single goal in the league, Or nobody was able to put the ball pass United’s goal in 14 games or 22 hours or 1334 minutes.
This period when expressed in match minutes, the entire first two seasons of the popular TV series THE WIRE could be watched. Over the 22 hours of football which I witnessed thanks to the power of DVR, United scored 26 goals without reply. How strong could a team be? During this period they plundered five goals against Stoke and West Brom, three goals against “Big Four” Chelsea and Fulham. But for most of the other teams United just scored one goal and thus the name ‘The One-Nil Experts’.
On the eve of the Carling Cup final, United are still in the reach of winning five trophies this season, having already won the World Club Cup. So I say to United fans, tomorrow (INSHALLAH) we will lift our second trophy of the season and the dream for the Quintuple is still alive.
